AT Training

Kern Assistive Technology Center provides individualized training to clients and/or staff who need to learn to use specific software or equipment to be more independent at home, in the community, or at work. We provide the training in the environment that is most appropriate to the client. Some training is done at our office. We also provide training at a location in the community (client’s home, jobsite, day program, etc…). Typically clients need help with learning voice recognition software, literacy software, or their AAC device. We can provide a variety of training in house. Occasionally, we will arrange for a vendor to train the client with us. The number of hours needed for this training is recommended prior to beginning it.

Assessment

At Kern Assistive Technology Center, we perform assessments to help deterrmine what the right tool for an individual. We begin where the client and walk through the entire process from consideration to implementation. Support we provide may include identifying a funding source and assisting with providing the funding source with needed documentation so the client is able to receive the equipment we recommend. We find Assistive Technology to make everyday life easier for the client.
